TAAG Angola Airlines and GOL Sign Major Codeshare Deal

TAAG Angola Airlines and GOL, the leading airline in the Brazilian market, have just signed a codeshare agreement aiming to empower traffic between Latin America, Africa, and Europe, via São Paulo in Brazil and Luanda in Angola hub.

The codeshare agreement allows both companies to incorporate the partner's destinations into their portfolio, leveraging this way network coverage and sales force in a win-win partnership overall.

Passengers of both airlines will have more fare options to choose from, greater flexibility in purchasing tickets (one single ticket combining flights on both companies), assured protection in connection flights, better convenience services concerning the booking, check-in, baggage dispatch, as well as extra destinations with TAAG/GOL network combined.

TAAG will place its flight code on 13 domestic flights in Brazil operated by GOL, including Rio de Janeiro (GIG and SDU), Belo Horizonte (CNF), Recife (REC), Porto Alegre (POA), Curitiba (CWB), Salvador (SSA), Brasília (BSB), Goiánia (GYN), Florianópolis (FLN), Fortaleza (FOR), Foz do Iguaçu (IGU), and Natal (NAT).

The codeshare agreement also allows TAAG to connect passengers to regional geographies operated by GOL on an interline basis.

In turn, GOL will put its flight code on TAAG Angola's São Paulo-Luanda route from which passengers can connect to TAAG's destinations in Europe and Africa, such as Lisbon, Madrid, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Windhoek, Kinshasa, Pointe-Noire, and Maputo.

Overall, TAAG and GOL passengers will be able to purchase long-haul tickets using local currency and regular points of sale benefiting from new destinations within the partner´s network.

Currently, TAAG operates 5 weekly flights between Luanda and São Paulo using a Boeing 777-300ER. The airline flies to a total of 27 destinations, including 13 international and 14 domestic.

Highlight to GOL with deep capillarity regarding Brazil and Latin America, with more than 200 geographies covered in 72 bases in Brazil and 11 international: Orlando and Miami, in the United States, and Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Mendoza, and Rosário, in Argentina.

“Building this alliance with TAAG is the best way to expand our destinations to dozens of African cities and an opportunity to offer customers the experience to discover a continent so rich in natural beauty. We are now able to connect our domestic bases, and, from Guarulhos, São Paulo connect with Luanda, Angola a country with so many similarities with Brazil” says Eduardo Bernardes, Vice-President President of Revenue at GOL.

“The partnership between TAAG and GOL opens multiple opportunities for tourism, and economic synergies in both countries, as we are enthusiastic about this major connection that bridges Latin America, Africa, and Europe via Brazil (São Paulo) and Angola (Luanda) transatlantic link.

Both families and the corporate segments will benefit from more destinations and greater agility in intercontinental travels” states Eduardo Fairen, CEO of TAAG.

TAAG Angola and GOL will continue to collaborate adding more destinations under the codeshare agreement.
