Share Your Compelling Food Story For WTM Africa Awards

One of the best ways for tourists to immerse themselves in the culture and history of a destination is by digging into the local fare. Dishes that are indigenous to a destination are paired with incredible stories passed down from generation to generations. They naturally bring people together and start conversations that break down language and cultural barriers.

WTM Africa is looking for the most compelling Foodie Story that gives travellers a taste of African food and drink through enticing marketing and PR campaigns. Share how you crafted an irresistible food journey that left visitors wanting more.

Who can enter?

  • Any destination (country, region, city or town) with a significant contribution to Food Tourism

  • National Tourism Organisations (NTOs) that represent cities or regions

  • Private Nominees

Deliverable's for Campaign

  • Overall campaign narrative

  • Overview of the project

  • Target audience

  • Budget

  • What worked and what didn’t

  • Obstacles and how they were resolved

  • Proof of audience engagement

  • Lessons learnt

Judging Criteria

Entries will be considered based on:

  • The overall narrative of the campaign

  • The defined business challenges that the campaign set out to solve

  • The overall project plan and defined targets

  • The overall fulfilment of the project and any innovative methods used in the execution of the campaign

  • Proof of how the project’s objectives were achieved

  • The outcome and effectiveness of the campaign in meeting the project’s objectives

  • An independent assessment from a third-party stakeholder

Only valid campaigns executed over the two-year period starting from 1 January 2018 to 31 December 2019 will be eligible. Share your story NOW.
