Waterford Rolls Out Summer-Style Wines and Festive Gifting

Perfectly timed with the start of December and South Africa's favourite season, Waterford Estate is rolling out their selection of summer-style wines with visitors from both near and far. 

Proudly offering an estate collection including crowd favourites like the Waterford Rose-Mary - an elegant incarnation of a Blanc de Noir made with Shiraz, Mourvèdre, Malbec, Cinsaut, Tempranillo and Sangiovese cultivars and ideal for the sunny days to follow. 

For lovers of Chenin blanc, the ‘Waterford Old Vine Chenin blanc’ boasts grapes sourced from some of the oldest Chenin blanc vines in Stellenbosch, dating back to as far as 1966.

To best preserve the purity of the fruit, berry bunches are hand-harvested in the early morning and whole-bunched pressed. These old vines allow for tremendous layers of complexity to the palate and are a true ode to the rich soils of the renowned region. 

The Waterford Estate Chardonnay 2019 is a singular wine produced from a special and unique vineyard on the property. Vines were planted in 1988, making it one of the oldest Chardonnay vineyards in the country. It's also just been rated as one of the Top 10 Chardonnay’s in South Africa by WineMag.

Waterford Estate's Grenache Noir Single Vineyard is classical in style and grown in the region. It makes for a perfect companion to a sunset toast or alfresco dining on balmy evenings and is fast becoming more popular in South Africa, following its International acclaim as one of the most planted red cultivars in the world; a common-place cultivar and everyday drinking wine in Europe, where its commonly served chilled - the ideal compromise for red-wine lovers and hot summers.
