Introduction
My first glimpse of Mombasa came not through its bustling streets or centuries-old landmarks, but through the sun-drenched PrideInn Paradise Beach Resort & Spa and its stunning tropical landscape.
As part of my itinerary for the 2026 edition of the Kenya Airways Aviation Media Lab, I spent three nights at this Indian Ocean retreat, marking both my first visit to Mombasa—Kenya's famed coastal city—and my first stay at this oceanside luxury property.

Set against a backdrop of swaying palms, white sands and turquoise waters, the resort proved to be far more than a place to stay; it became my gateway to the warmth, culture and laid-back charm of Kenya's coast.
From the soothing rhythm of the Indian Ocean to the effortless hospitality that defined my stay, PrideInn Paradise Beach Resort & Spa offered an immersive introduction to the beauty and spirit of coastal Kenya.
Arrival and Check-in
Our Kenya Airways' flight from Nairobi to Mombasa was a late evening flight. Consequently, we arrived at PrideInn Paradise Beach Resort & Spa after nightfall. But, in many ways, the late arrival made my first impression even more memorable.
The drive from Moi International Airport, Mombasa to PrideInn Paradise Beach Resort & Spa didn't take too long. As we approached the resort, nothing gave it away. Nothing prepared us for the absolute beauty that awaited us.

As we made a right turn and drove into the resort, everything changed. The drive suddenly became scenic, and my expectations immediately shifted. The entire landscape was a beauty to behold.
The lawns, the driveways, and the walkways were expertly manicured. The lush tropical gardens and manicured lawns seemed to dissolve the fatigue of our travel. It was a good first impression. And nothing could be more welcoming.

Upon arrival, we were received and greeted by genuine smiles, refreshing welcome cocktails, and cold towels. But there was more.
The resort’s reception area and the adjoining lobbies featured warm, natural lighting, and a signature scent, all of which conspired to calm our senses. Before I got to my room, I was already at home.

Although we arrived the resort tired and worn-out out, the environment and the entire front desk staff, including the concierge team extended a warmth that immediately put us at ease.
There was an infectious enthusiasm about the team that elevated the arrival experience. The free unlimited Wi-Fi made good things even better. And we absolutely loved it.
The Room
I love rooms with a view. And that's exactly what I got. At PrideInn Paradise Beach Resort & Spa, this is a given. And my room delivered that experience in no small measures.

As I stepped into my room, my first impression was that of style, class, and modern comfort. I was greeted by understated elegance and a sophistication rooted in simplicity.
The room's calming interior, adorned in natural hues, was complemented by bespoke furnishings, locally crafted textiles, and unique feature walls showcasing the vibrant culture of coastal Kenya. I was home, but I was also swept off my feet.

Well-appointed and thoughtfully designed for ultimate comfort, my room featured a luxurious king-size bed, en-suite bathroom and separate shower with sleek marble accents, providing a spa-like experience for a truly rejuvenating stay.

The room also featured a private balcony offering a private space to unwind outdoors while soaking in scenic views of the resort’s sleek swimming pool and the stunning coastline of the Indian Ocean.
Additionally, the room featured a smart flat-screen television, coffee and tea-making facilities, a spacious workspace, and an electronic safe.
Gastronomy
One of the highlights of my stay at PrideInn Paradise Beach Resort & Spa was its impressive culinary offering. The resort featured several dining venues, but the Dau Restaurant quickly became my favourite dining address. Here, I could dine while enjoying the stunning view of the Indian Ocean.

From breakfast through dinner, the Dau Restaurant struck a fine balance between variety and quality. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, while the buffet featured an extensive selection of dishes prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
In particular, I loved the perfect blend of contemporary Kenyan cuisine and familiar international favourites, ensuring there was something to suit every palate. Beyond the food itself, the influence of Swahili culture was impossible to miss, expressed through the flavours, interior decor, hospitality, and the easy warmth of the dining experience.

As the resort's main restaurant, the Dau Restaurant accommodates up to 500 guests. Drawing inspiration from Swahili heritage and the historic trade routes that shaped Kenya's coast, it enhances the dining experience with themed buffet nights, live cooking stations, and unique entertainment that adds a sense of occasion to each meal.
Whether dining alone or sharing a table with friends and colleagues, I found the Dau Restaurant to be consistently rewarding. The relaxed ambience, attentive service and generous buffet offerings made it a place I looked forward to returning to each day.

Beyond the Dau Restaurant, PrideInn Paradise Beach Resort & Spa offers several other dining and social spaces, including Old Town Bistro Restaurant, Kone Kone Lounge, Infinity Deck Bar and Tewa Pool Bar, giving guests plenty of opportunities to explore different tastes and settings throughout their stay.
Powered by Technology
Technology quietly enhanced the guest experience throughout my stay. From personalised smart cards that granted access to guest rooms and controlled in-room lighting to the flexibility of multiple payment options, convenience never came at the expense of comfort.
Location
When it comes to resorts, location is key and environment is everything. Well, almost. PrideInn Paradise Beach Resort & Spa combines the two with a perfect blend.
One of the resort's greatest strengths is its location. Despite its scale, PrideInn Paradise Beach Resort & Spa manages to feel like a secluded retreat, offering guests a front-row seat to the Indian Ocean while remaining within easy reach of Mombasa's attractions.

Nestled in Mombasa's tropical paradise, the resort combines the tranquillity of the sea with refined luxury, creating an idyllic escape for leisure seekers and adventure enthusiasts alike.
During my stay at PrideInn Paradise Beach Resort & Spa, each day unfolded for me at an unhurried pace. Here, guests can wake up to the rhythm of the waves, soak in the beauty of Kenya's palm-fringed shores.

After savouring the soothing rhythm of the Ocean waves, guests can retire to their rooms and indulge in personalised comfort or retreat to the property’s elegantly appointed surroundings. The resort captures the laid-back charm and tropical beauty which Kenya's coast is renowned for.

A night before check-out, PrideInn Paradise Beach Resort & Spa left a personalised goodbye note for me — a thoughtful gesture that added a warm, human touch to the end of my stay.
Parting Words
Three nights at PrideInn Paradise Beach Resort & Spa offered more than just a comfortable stay; they provided my first meaningful encounter with the spirit of coastal Kenya. Between the Indian Ocean views, memorable dining experiences at Dau Restaurant and the genuine hospitality of the staff, the resort left a lasting impression.

Whether visiting Mombasa for business, leisure or a blend of both, PrideInn Paradise Beach Resort & Spa delivers an experience that extends beyond its elegant rooms and impressive facilities. It is a place that invites you to slow down, savour the moment and embrace the easy rhythm of life on Kenya's coast. Given the opportunity, it is certainly a stay I would gladly repeat.
