Floating Elegance: The Zambezi Queen Has New Robes

She's a slice of African paradise. She's a Queen, and she's got a new robe! The Zambezi Queen by Mantis – a 42-metre luxurious, 5-star floating boutique hotel – is in a league of her own. As you gently cruise on the Chobe River there is no doubt you are in the best seats in the house.  

As she glides along the gentle waters with unobstructed views of the Chobe River and National Park, the vast landscapes and countless encounters with both land and water-based animals, we call this special part of Africa, home.

The recent regal refurbishment of the Zambezi Queen by Mantis, the Grande Dame of the Chobe River, was undertaken with great care and deliberate thought, with a focus on celebrating the abundance of wildlife, the beauty of nature and the fascination of the river.

The Zambezi Queen is a Grande Dame with a rich history, recently she had a make-over befitting her status. The royal ‘coronation’ which took 6 weeks to complete included an all-deck, all-suite refurbishment. 

The floating hotel now boasts beautiful African inspired, locally sourced, furnishings and finishes, modern enhancements, more natural light and an indoor/outdoor flow fit for a queen.  Everything is luxurious and elegant, yet comfortable and chosen to complement the Chobe’s extraordinary surroundings.

As a guest on board this luxury floating hotel, you are able to explore the river-based activities from a very different vantage point. These include up close encounters with wildlife along the water’s edge, bird watching, stargazing, fishing, a community village visit or simply relaxing on board.

Unlike a land-based lodge, the Zambezi Queen traverses roughly 25km of the Chobe River for guests to enjoy some of the best wildlife viewing on the banks of the Chobe National Park.

From trumpeting elephant (one of the most dense populations on the African continent), to large numbers of buffalo, leopard and lion, a variety of antelope and abundant birdlife.
