British Airways will launch direct flights between London Heathrow and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the United States of America with effect from 2 April, 2019.

The new year round service will operate four times per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays using one of British Airways’ newest Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.

Flight BA0171 will depart London Heathrow at 5.00pm and land in Pittsburgh at 8.15pm, while the BA0170 will leave Pittsburgh at 9.50pm, arriving into London at 10.25am the following day.

British Airways will become the only airline to offer direct flight from UK to Pittsburgh. Special return fares from £600 in Economy and £1068 in Business available on ba.com.

The new route will take the number of British Airways US destinations to 26, and the number of daily flights it offers with American Airlines as part of their transatlantic joint business up to 67.

Visitors to Pittsburgh can explore many outdoor activities, the Carnegie Museums of Art, Natural History and Science, meander around the Botanical Gardens or soak up the lively strip district.

Pittsburgh has also been labelled ‘Robot City’ as Google and Uber have campuses in the region and numerous other tech start-ups have established headquarters in the river valley town.

British Airways flew between Heathrow and Pittsburgh via Washington from May 13, 1986, until June 1993 when it moved the service to Gatwick from where it operated until 31 October 1999.

Currently, customers flying from London to Pittsburgh must connect via Philadelphia, New York JFK or Chicago.
