Gastronomy: Taste of Home Arrives at Four Seasons Hotel Cairo


This winter, Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at the First Residence is bringing a taste of home to Aura restaurant with specialty tajines every Thursday and Friday from 6:00 pm. Indulge in a selection of Lebanese and Egyptian home-made stews either in the outdoors by the pool or in the warm interiors of Aura restaurant.

Tajine dishes are slow-cooked savoury stews, typically made with sliced meat, chicken or fish together with vegetables. Common spices include ginger, cumin, turmeric, cinnamon, and saffron. The sweet and sour combination is quite common in tajine dishes.


“I have curated six different styles of tajines inspired by the home-cooking of my grandmother. These are the dishes I have grown up with in Lebanon and I would love nothing more than to evoke memories of a home-cooked meal for Hotel guests while sharing this delicious meal,” says Chef Ahmed El Zoghbi.

The tajine menu features lamb favourites, such as the vine leaves and lamb chop tajine, lamb roll stuffed with freekeh and vegetables, and lamb shank fatteh with tomato sauce.

The menu also includes other elevated comfort dishes, especially the chicken with mushroom and bechamel and the Lebanese samke harra, ideal to share with family and friends with the golden Egyptian sun setting over the horizon in the outdoors of Aura.
