International Airlines Group Orders More Airbus A320neo Aircraft

International Airlines Group (IAG) has placed an order for 25 Airbus A320neo family aircraft with the option for 50 more. The group also converted 12 of the A320neo options into firm order for A320neos and A321neos for a total of 37 new aircraft.

The aircraft are scheduled to be delivered between 2025 and 2028 and will be used to replace the current A320ceo family aircraft in the Group´s short-haul fleet.

According to IAG, the exact mix of A320neos and A321neos is not yet known and will be decided closer to the delivery dates. The engine selection for the aircraft will also me decided closer to the delivery time.

The Airbus A320neo list price is around US$120 million while the A321neo list price is around US$140 million. IAG has negotiated a substantial discount from the list price. Airlines typically negotiate up to 60% discount on aircraft orders.

IAG seems to be in the mood for aircraft orders. In May, the airline group announced an order for up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX jets. And in June, it converted 14 options to firm order for 11 Airbus A320neos and three A321neos.

International Airlines Groupis one of the world's largest airline groups, with a fleet of 531 aircraft. It is comprised of 6 airline brands, including British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Iberia Express, LEVEL and Vueling.
