IAG Orders More Airbus A320neo Aircraft

International Airlines Group (IAG) has converted 14 A320neo family options into firm orders for 11 A320neos and three A321neos. This order was originally placed in August 2013.

This is in addition to the conversion of eight Airbus A320neo family options which IAG exercised in March 2022 for six A320neos and two A321neos.

These aircraft will be delivered in 2024 and 2025 and will be used to replace A320ceo family aircraft in the Group’s short-haul fleet.

The best-selling Airbus A320neo is a family of modern narrow-body aircraft. The fuel-efficient aircraft will bring both cost efficiencies and environmental benefits to IAG airlines.

IAG did not mention which of the group's airlines will operate these aircraft. It is also not clear which engines will power these aircraft. The decision will be between the LEAP-1A and PW1100G turbofan, both of which power the A320neo family.

It'll be recalled that in May, 2022, IAG announced an order for up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX jets, including firm orders for 25 Boeing 737-8-200s and 25 Boeing 737-10s for a total of 50, plus 100 options.

IAG is one of the world's largest airline groups, with a fleet of 531 aircraft. It is comprised of 6 airline brands, including British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Iberia Express, LEVEL and Vueling.
