Lagos Airport Incident: Passengers Commend Air Peace Crew


Passengers have commended Air Peace flight and cabin crew for their security consciousness and professionalism after suspected thieves opened the cargo hold of one of its flight.

The incident happened on Thursday, February 08, 2018 at Murtala Muhammed Airport Lagos at about 7.35pm as Flight 7138 to Abuja was waiting at runway 18R (A1) for takeoff.

The passengers praised the pilot-in-command for insisting on thorough security screening of the Abuja-bound flight after the incident.

Confirming the incident in a statement issued on Friday by its Corporate Communications Manager, Mr. Chris Iwarah, Air Peace said the carrier’s crew acted in line with its high safety standards.

According to the statement, the Captain of the flight, Capt. Adesola Arasi contacted control tower when he was alerted that the cargo hold was opened and immediately shut.

Following the incident, the Captain insisted on having EOD squad check Flight APK 7138 before takeoff to ensure the safety of the passengers and their luggage.

Passengers were fully briefed of the development by the Captain and advised to disembark from the aircraft while the joint security operation by EOD, FAAN AVSEC and our security team lasted.

The flight was cleared by the security experts after exhaustively screening the aircraft for about 30 minutes. The flight took off at 9.30pm and safely landed in Abuja at about 10.23pm.

The airline assured its esteemed passengers that it would continue to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of its guests, crew and equipment.
