Starting today, Singapore Airlines has expanded travel options to selected African destinations, offering customers travelling between Asia and Africa seamless connectivity options.

The new options which are operated as codeshare flights with Ethiopian Airlines include flights from Addis Ababa to Cape Town, Johannesburg, Lagos and Enugu.

Both Star Alliance members, Singapore Airlines and Ethiopian Airlines first began codesharing on each other’s flights to and from Dubai back in 2011.

In June, 2017, the codeshare deal was expanded to include Ethiopian Airlines’ intra-African network including Botswana, Burkina Faso, Chad, Cote D’Ivoire, Kenya, Nigeria, Mozambique, Congo, Rwanda, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.

In turn, Ethiopian Airlines customers are now able to access multiple destinations in Australia, China, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Thailand and Vietnam across Singapore Airlines’ wide network.

Singapore Airlines operates a fleet of more than 100 aircraft. Together with its subsidiary airlines, it flies to more than 130 destinations around the world.

Ethiopian Airlines operates the youngest fleet on the African continent with an average aircraft age of less than five years, serving more than 100 international destinations across five continents.
