Nigeria's Air Peace has announced that it is making effort to resume scheduled flights to Asaba and Warri both in Delta State in the oil-rich Niger-Delta area of Nigeria.

Air Peace Chairman, Allen Onyema, who disclosed this in a meeting with the National Association of the Niger-Delta Students, said the routes will be served by soon-to-be acquired Embraer aircraft.

Onyema explained that the airline had suspended its flights to Asaba when the airport was downgraded because of its runway.

The airport’s runway, he said, was not suitable for the operation of the airline’s fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft.

Onyema, however, acknowledged reports that the runway was being fixed, explaining that the Osubi Airport, which is the closest to Effurun and Warri, had a short runway which could not handle Boeing 737 aircraft.

Currently, only Arik Air and Aero Contractors operate to both Asaba and Warri with services to Abuja and Lagos using Dash 8-400 and CRJ-900 aircraft.
