Hundreds of passengers were stranded on Monday after a Kenya Airways plane from Entebbe, Uganda burst its tyres at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi.

A Kenya Airways Embraer ERJ-190 performing flight KQ 415 burst its main tyres as it landed at the airport and got disabled on the runway causing about 2 hour disruption of traffic at the airport.

In a statement, Kenya airways management said no one was injured in the incident and that its engineers had moved on sight to rectify the problem.

"Efforts were made to change the tyre and move the plane to allow other flights to land and take off. All guests have been disembarked from the aeroplane which is currently on the runway," Kenya Airways said.
