American Airlines will fly to the continent of Africa for the first time with the launch of a service between Philadelphia and Casablanca, Morocco with effect from 4 June, 2020.
This announcement is coming 4 months after another American airline, United announce that it would commence service between Houston and Cape Town, South Africa.
With the new service, American will be the only U.S. carrier with nonstop service to Casablanca, which will be operated three times per week on a Boeing 757.
American Airlines plans to codeshare with Royal Air Maroc in 2020, which will allow for even more connections further into Africa to places like Marrakech, Lagos and Accra.
