Baby Delivered Onboard Flight Found Dead in Airplane Toilet

January 8, 2018

Airplane cleaners were on Sunday horrified to discover the dead body of a newborn baby wrapped in a plastic bag inside an aeroplane's toilet after it was born mid-flight.

A 37-year old female passenger identified as Hani, from Cianjur in West Java, who was suspected to be behind this was held after arriving at Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport around 1.00 am.

Police suspected that the 37-year-old mum who had worked as a domestic helper secretly gave birth to the baby during a flight from Abu Dhabi to Jakarta, the Indonesian capital.

The migrant worker, from Cianjur in western Java, had been ill during the Etihad Airways flight and forced the pilot to declare emergency and diverted to Bangkok, Thailand.

According to reports, Hani had begun to bleed, around four hours after take-off which made the captain to seek medical help.

The woman was in economy class but then laid on a business-class seat with an oxygen mask. The captain then announced we should divert to Bangkok.

A medical team boarded the plane to evacuate Hani after the Airbus A330 landed at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

The flight left for Jakarta around an hour later without the sick woman, who flew home on a later flight.

Ground cleaners in Jakarta found the full-term dead baby wrapped in a plastic bag in a drawer in one of the plane's toilets. The cause of death had yet to be determined.
