KLM Introduces 'Connecting Seats' That Speak Every Language

As busy as airports can get, they can also be lonely places especially when you are travelling around Christmas time which people of different languages, cultures and beliefs.
In this Christmas season, KLM broke this language barriers to bring people together through the introduction of its 'Connecting Seats', a first-of-its-kind innovation that speaks all languages.
The technology which was launched in collaboration with DDB & Tribal Amsterdam, translates every language in real time, giving travellers at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport an opportunity to talk to every person in their own language.
All travellers need to do is sit down and select their languages. With the use of Google Cloud's Speech API, Translation API and Web Speech API, the seats work automatically.
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has been in the forefront of introducing innovative onboard and ground technologies with the aim of enhancing passenger experience.
In November, the airline started offering Facebook Messenger users in Japan, South Korea and South Africa the option of asking questions to service agents via Messenger customer chat on KLM.com.
In October, 2017, it introduced BlueBot (BB), an artificial intelligence which helps customers book a ticket on Messenger.
KLM is well known for its personal approach. On social media, the airline offers 24/7 service with a team of 250 human agents, handling more than 16,000 cases a week.
