Three years after suspending operations for security reason, Arik Air on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 recommenced flight operations to Maiduguri, Borno State in the northern part of Nigeria.
To commemorate the re-launch of flights to the North-eastern state, the management of the airline also donated relief materials to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Teachers' Village Maiduguri.
Food items including bags of rice, sanitary pads, clothes among others were donated to the victims of insurgency living at the camp.
Vice- President, Northern Operations of Arik Air, Hamza Bukar said the airline resumed flights to Maiduguri to reclaim its leadership position.
He said the airline donated the relief items to the IDPs as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility.
He commended the state and federal government for the efforts made in restoring peace to the erstwhile troubled state.
Coordinator of the IDP camp, Ali Idi urged other individuals and corporate bodies to emulate the good gesture by Arik.
