Johannesburg based low-cost carrier, FlySafair on Monday 1 August touched down at Lanseria International airport, located near Johannesburg, South Africa, for the first time.
The airline celebrated the inaugural flight with the traditional water cannons, and flights will now be fully operational between Lanseria and George, and Lanseria and Cape Town.
The route will be served 13 times weekly using the Airline’s Boeing 737-400s and will face direct competition from kulula.com and Mango, which operate combined 70 weekly flights.
Since operating their first flight in October of 2014, FlySafair has quickly grown to become a significant player among domestic airlines in South Africa.
In October 2015 it celebrated the launch of four new routes – between Cape Town and Durban, and Johannesburg and Durban, Cape Town and East London, Johannesburg and East London – in response to popular demand from customers.
