Med-view Airline would commence its domestic flights from Lagos to Kano tomorrow to strengthened its local operations reports Daily Trust. The Kano addition brought the number of local routes Med-View flies to seven.
This development came barely four days after starting another international route from Lagos to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, via Kano.
Executive Director (Technical Services) of Med-View, Engr. Lookman Animasahun, said the airline delayed flying Kano route until the commencement of the Jeddah international operation through Kano from Lagos.
Animasahun said: “We have waited patiently for us to be able to go to Kano. It is not that we don’t want to go to Kano but we were looking for opportunity when we would start our Jeddah international route so that we would be able to now mop up our passengers across the country to go to Kano and the Kano operation (domestic) is starting on Monday.”
Animasahun described the domestic operations which Med-View started in November 2012 as fantastic, saying: “Our domestic operations have been fantastic. We have gotten customers, who are satisfied, customers are very happy with us.
On daily basis, the number of customers we carry has increased. The fact that we are even going to London, a lot of our passengers who are coming in and out of London prefer to fly us locally because…our philosophy is zero tolerance for departure.”
He called on government to assist local airlines through addressing the foreign exchange problem.
He said that the cost of aviation fuel, known as Jet A1, was high, adding that 40 percent of airlines’ operation cost used to go into fueling the aircraft.
