UNWTO Launches New Competitions to Re-start Tourism

To help re-start tourism following the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the UNWTO has launched four new challenges for tourism entrepreneurs. See the details below.
1. UNWTO Hospitality Challenge
Offered in collaboration with Sommet Education, this competition is designed to identify ideas and individuals that can accelerate tourism recovery while promoting inclusivity and sustainability.
The 30 finalists will be eligible for full scholarships in 15 different programs while the top 3 will be granted funding to support their initial development.

2. SDGs Global Startup Competition
This completion is for startups from all over the world with the potential to scale-up whilst driving sustainability.
Participation will equip selected startups with skills to accelerate sustainable development and offer an unprecedented platform to meet key stakeholders and exchange success stories.

3. The UNWTO Inspiring Africa Challenge
This branding challenge in collaboration with CNN, invites actors from the marketing and branding sector to present their proposals for a campaign that positions Africa as a destination in the minds of travellers.
Entries should be creative concepts and sample communication materials. Innovative, original proposals are key.

4. Smart Solution to Smart Destination
In collaboration with Athletic Club and BEAZ, this challenge aims to promote entrepreneurship in sports tourism destinations.
The Organizers are looking for startups with innovative and intelligent solutions that can maximize the visitor experience in stadiums or events.
Winners will have the opportunity to develop a pilot project in collaboration with Athletic Club for 6 months.
