TAAG Angola Moves Operations to New Luanda International Airport

TAAG Angola Airlines has commenced the gradual transfer of its commercial flights from «4 de Fevereiro International Airport» to the New Luanda International Airport Dr. António Agostinho Neto (AIAAN), the transfer process, regulated by a Government Decree, starts on November 10th, with the Luanda-Cabinda­-Luanda route.

Choosing Cabinda as the first route to be transferred to the New Luanda International Airport was wise, as a methodological approach. This domestic destination has the highest volume of passenger traffic and cargo and flights during all periods of the day (morning, afternoon, and evening), meaning that it will enable and activate on a permanent basis, the multiple teams and operational systems from the New Luanda International Airport.

To provide greater flexibility and convenience services to customers, TAAG Angola Airlines will provide four daily frequencies to Cabinda, operated by a Dash 8-Q400 aircraft (74 pax total capacity) with departures and arrivals exclusively at Dr. António Agostinho Neto Airport.

During December 2024, TAAG Angola Airlines will incorporate the additional domestic flights (Dundo, Saurimo, Luena, and Soyo) into the flight schedule from AIAAN. Thus, progressively, in the first quarter of 2025, the company will complete the transfer of the remaining connections both domestic and international links.

TAAG's phased transfer of commercial flights to the New Luanda Airport, follows international best practices in aviation Management of Change, ensuring safety, efficient transition, and customer service.

TAAG is taking all the procedures for a smooth transition, complying with operational safety, and securing customers' travel plans.

While kicking off with the Cabinda route, the Company is ensuring that its operations at the new airport start within a solid, size-bound framework allowing the optimization of processes from the multiple stakeholders along the way, thus offering passengers a positive and reliable experience at AIAAN.

Access to the New Luanda International Airport Dr. António Agostinho Neto will be available by train, bus, as well as through personal vehicles, private shuttle services, or personalized taxis.

TAAG has an ongoing multichannel communication strategy, which includes call center service, SMS, e-mailing, website, digital platforms, travel agencies, and its point of sales to keep customers informed about the transition.
