South African Airways Confirms Extension of Mauritius Travel Ban

South African Airways (SAA) has confirmed that the ban on all commercial flights from South Africa to Mauritius has been extended for a month until 31 January, 2022.

All South African Airways flights from Johannesburg to the island are, therefore, suspended until Monday, 31 January 2022.

The extension of the travel ban by the Government of Mauritius is effective immediately. SAA will continue to monitor the situation closely, always putting the health and safety of its customers first.

The Mauritian government had, late last year, placed a travel ban on all commercial flights from South Africa to Mauritius following the discovery of the Omicron COVID-19 variant in South Africa. The travel ban was originally supposed to last until Friday, 31 December 2021.

Customers are advised that SA190/SA191 to and from Mauritius will be cancelled up to and including 31 January 2022.
