Qatar Airways CEO, Akbar Al Baker, Resigns

After 27 years of remarkable service, Qatar Airways Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, has 'suddenly' resigned from his position as Chief Executive effective 5 November 2023. Qatar Airways announced this development today in a statement.

Akbar's resignation comes as a huge surprise and even raises questions as it is not clear why Akbar, one of the world's most vocal airline executives, decided to step down at this time. The airline gave no reason in its official statement.

Akbar will be succeeded by Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer as Group Chief Executive for Qatar Airways.
