The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) hosted the Executive Committee of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) Alumni Association on April 24, 2026, at its Corporate Headquarters in Abuja to strengthen collaboration and support aviation sector development.

Receiving the delegation led by its President, Amb. Ali M. Magashi, the Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Capt. Chris Najomo described the visit as timely, noting that NCAT remains a key pillar of Nigeria’s aviation industry and a major source of skilled manpower.

The DGCA reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to global standards, highlighting Nigeria’s 91.45 percent Effective Implementation score in the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) audit—the highest in the country’s history.

Capt. Najomo emphasized ongoing efforts to enhance manpower development, particularly through the establishment of Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facilities, which provide practical training opportunities and reduce dependence on foreign services.

He also addressed concerns over the exploitation of young aviation professionals, assuring that reported cases are being investigated.

On the NCAA’s presence in Zaria, he promised that the Authority will sustain and strengthen its operational activities at NCAT.

Responding, Amb. Magashi said the visit was a strategic engagement aimed at deepening collaboration.

He commended the NCAA’s regulatory achievements and called for improved training pathways, structured internship opportunities, and policy interventions to address rising operational costs.

The alumni also raised concerns about limited access to training facilities and broader industry challenges, such as infrastructure gaps and sustainability.

They pledged to support the Authority with expertise in policy advisory, capacity building, and industry feedback.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening partnerships to enhance safety, workforce development, and overall performance of Nigeria’s aviation sector.

The meeting was attended by NCAA directors and general managers, as well as executive members of the NCAT Alumni Association and its Board of Trustees.
