NCAA Holds Stakeholders' Engagement on Airstrip Operations, Safety, and Compliance

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has held a stakeholders' engagement forum on airstrip operations, safety, and compliance in Nigeria. The event was held today in Lagos.

Critical stakeholders present included Airstrip Owners (public and private) operators, state government aviation officials, air navigation service providers, representatives of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, and NCAA Directors.

Opening the meeting, the DGCA, Capt. Chris Najomo said that NCAA’s commitment to this engagement aligns with the Minister’s agenda for the aviation industry and the NCAA’s ease of doing business principle.

In his remark, the NCAA’s Director of Aerodrome and Airspace Standards (DAAS), Engr. Godwin Balang emphasized the need for modified regulatory policies for airstrip development and operations in Nigeria In line with Section 71 (3) & (4)(a) of the Civil Aviation Act 2022, which empowers the Authority to establish minimum safety standards for aerodrome design, operation, and maintenance.

Key objectives of the engagement include promoting awareness of regulatory requirements, providing clarity on NCAA guidelines for airstrip operation, maintenance, monitoring, and certification.
