The Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr Festus Keyamo (SAN), has called on international investors to take advantage of Nigeria's favourable investment climate to co-invest, co-innovate, and co-develop the infrastructure, technology, and human capital that would define the next generation of aviation in Africa.
Represented by the Director-General of Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo, at the three-day flagship platform organized by the Nigeria-Belgium- Luxembourg Business Forum held on the 22nd to 24th October 2025, in Belgium, with the theme: "Solidifying Viable Partnership to Economic Growth & Sustainability," Mr Keyamo also restated the Federal Government's commitment to bold reforms, inclusive development, and regional integration.
The Hon. Minister noted that these reforms, including Nigeria's ratification and Implementation of the Cape Town Convention and the adoption of the Irrevocable Deregistration and Export Request Authorization (IDERA), have mitigated investment risks, streamlined aircraft acquisition processes, and guaranteed investors' security by safeguarding financiers' rights in the event of default.
These measures, he said, have unlocked new financing opportunities, supported fleet expansion, and bolstered long-term industry competitiveness, positioning Nigeria as an attractive market for global investment.
According to Mr Keyamo, key opportunities prioritized to accelerate growth include the expansion of airport capacities, the establishment of world-class Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul facilities, and the optimization of cargo logistics, green aviation projects such as solar-powered airports, carbon-neutral infrastructure, financing fleet modernization through developed financial instruments, and trade partnerships.
High point of the event presentation of the Award of Recognition to the Minister, which was received on his behalf by Capt. Najomo.
