Nigeria's Ibom Air has explained to the flying public why it has been operating flights using an Airbus A220 aircraft with EgyptAir livery.
In a press release, the airline said one of its recently wet-leased Airbus A220 aircraft had to undergo maintenance for an anticipated period of two weeks.
To avoid disappointing passengers, and to demonstrate its commitment to customers, the airline had to bring in a replacement aircraft from EgyptAir.
As a result, an Airbus A220 draped in Egyptair livery, will be operating flights for Ibom Air over the next couple of weeks. The aircraft is standing in until the airline's Airbus A220 returns to service.
It'll be recalled that in June, 2021, Ibom Air wet leased two Airbus A220 aircraft from Air Sinai, a subsidiary of EgyptAir.
Ibom Air commenced commercial flights in 2019. It currently flies to 6 domestic destinations including Lagos, Abuja, Uyo, Calabar, Port Harcourt, and Enugu.
