Four Seasons Safari Lodge Unveils Elevated Guest Experiences

The Serengeti’s iconic Four Seasons Safari Lodge has undergone a series of exciting renovations, reaffirming its position as a leading destination for discerning travellers seeking an unparalleled safari experience in the world's most renowned wildlife park. The updates seamlessly blend a modern contemporary aesthetic with the natural beauty of the savannah, creating an immersive and luxurious retreat.

A Culinary Adventure

The enhancement began in 2024 with a completely new dining experience in the form of Nuru – meaning "light”- a sophisticated steak-house style restaurant infusing popular dishes with a distinct Tanzanian flavour. 

In addition to Nuru, the Lodge welcomed a completely new private dining venue, The Vineyard, offering curated, wine-paired five and seven-course menus in the heart of the Serengeti.

A Homage to the Host Land

As part of the Lodge’s ongoing commitment to providing the finest accommodations, updates to all 72 of the guest rooms and five villas have been undertaken, rolling out in stages and to be completed by May 2025.

The designs are inspired by the traditions of the Maasai with furniture and soft finishings embodying a sense of belonging in the Serengeti and acknowledging the craftsmanship of the local people.

Beautiful new patterns inspired by those found of kitenge fabric married with crisp white linen and freshly oiled leather, hark back to day days of early exploration and the discovery of new adventures, while touchpoints within the rooms have been thoroughly modernized.  

Treading Lightly on the Environment

Moving to the outside of the Lodge, natural thatching has been replaced throughout the Lodge with a focus on quality and longevity thanks to innovative new eco-conscious synthetic materials that last longer and deter insects and birds in a natural, eco-friendly manner. This adds to the great strides the Lodge made in 2024 when it switched on Tanzania’s largest solar farm, allowing the Lodge to operate almost entirely off the power of the sun.

More Than a Beautiful Sunset on the Horizon

In the coming months, Maji restaurant and bar, the beloved dining space overlooking the family pool and watering hole where wildlife is often found quenching their own thirst, will also be thoroughly upgraded, tying in with a completely new dining and bar experience for guests. It will provide guests with a peaceful, immersive experience where the Serengeti sunsets can be appreciated after a day of one-of-a-kind safari adventures.

As a destination, it is popular all-year-round. Enjoy the green season from January to March as great herds converge on the plains; enjoy picture time from April to May, as lush green grass frames herds as they head northwards; and as the plains turn brown in June to October it is the perfect camouflage for Africa's big cats as the herds make their way to the Grumeti river and onwards to the Mara. In November and December, the herds begin making their way back.
