Finally, Ethiopian Airlines Touches Down in Enugu

After a two-year absence and a long wait, Ethiopian Airlines has finally resumed scheduled flights to Enugu, Nigeria today, Saturday 9 October, 2021. The flight, operated by a Boeing 787-8 with registration number, ET-ATJ, touched down at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu this afternoon at about 12:55pm following a flight from Addis Ababa.

Flights to Enugu will initially operate three times a week, on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays using the ultra-modern Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. It'll be recalled that Ethiopian Airlines originally commenced commercial flights to Enugu in 2013, but suspended the service in 2019 when the airport was closed by the Nigerian Aviation Authorities for runway refurbishment.

With the resumption of commercial flights to Enugu, Ethiopian Airlines now flies to four destinations in Nigeria. The other three destinations are Lagos, Abuja, and Kano. Enugu is the former administrative capital of Eastern Nigeria. Being close to the commercial cities of Onitsha and Aba, Enugu will serve as the travelling hub to and from Eastern Nigeria, especially for business travellers.
