Ethiopian Begins Second Daily Flight to Lagos with Impressive LF

Ethiopian Airlines, Africa's largest and most profitable airline, has commenced its second daily flight to Lagos. The inaugural flights were operated yesterday, 1 July, 2025.

Speaking at the welcome ceremony at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Lagos, the Area Manager of Ethiopian Airlines in Nigeria, Mrs Firiehiwot Mekonnen, disclosed that the inaugural flight from Lagos was departing with a full load of 147 passengers in Economy and 8 in Business Class.

Mekonnen also revealed that the inaugural flight from Addis Ababa arrived with 114 passengers in the Economy Class and 1 passenger in the Business Class. The load factors on both flights are impressive and demonstrates Nigerians' love and support for Ethiopian Airlines.

In attendance at the ceremony were high-profile dignitaries, including the Permanent Secretary to the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, representatives of the Director General Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority NCAA, the MD/CE Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria FAAN, and others.

The additional flight to Lagos brings Ethiopian Airlines frequency in Nigeria to 31 weekly flights from all stations Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Enugu and 14 weekly flights to/from Lagos with early morning, mid-day and evening departures which makes Ethiopian airlines the most preferred by passengers for its flexible and convenient options. 

With this second daily flight, passengers from Nigeria can connect to all of Ethiopian Airlines 66 African destinations within 12 hours of flight time. There will be no need for layovers as there are instant connections available to Asia, Middle East, India, and Africa and to the rest of 150 global destinations.

"We expect that our passengers will take advantage of this second frequency and the opportunity it offers to them. With this, ET is willing and able to partner and support travel and tourism in Nigeria" Mekonnen said.

Ethiopian Airlines has been serving Nigeria since independence in 1960, which will mark Ethiopian Airlines uninterrupted and committed operation to Nigeria 65 years in November 2025.

The new daily flight includes four evening departures at 10 pm and another three flights at 5.40 am. Flight ET 902 departs Lagos at 10 pm and arrives Addis Ababa at 5:20 am the following day, while Flight ET904 departs Lagos at 5:40 am and arrives Addis Ababa at 1pm.

The second flights will operate alongside Ethiopian Airlines existing daily flights between Lagos and Addis Ababa.
