Ethiopian Airlines Returns to South Africa with a Deal

Following the reopening of South African airports to international passenger traffic, Ethiopian Airlines will resume flights to Johannesburg and Cape Town from 1 October, 2020.

Flights to Johannesburg will be operated daily using a two-class Boeing 777-200LR offering 28 business class seats and 287 economy class seats. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, this route was served by a Boeing 777-300ER.

Flights to Cape Town will also be operated daily using a two-class Airbus A350-900 aircraft offering 343 seats including 30 business class seats and 313 economy class seats.

Ethiopian Airlines is offering a 10% discount to both Johannesburg and Cape Town. To benefit from the discount, passengers must book online, either on the airlines website or on its mobile app.

Ethiopian Airlines has resumed flights to other destinations including Dubai, Toronto, Washington DC, Chicago, Newark, London, Paris, Manchester, Lagos, Abuja, Accra, Nairobi, and Windhoek.

It will be recalled that Ethiopian Airlines and other airlines suspended passenger flights to South Africa in March, 2020 following the outbreak of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Customers are kindly informed that wearing of face masks is mandatory on all Ethiopian Airlines flights. They are also required to satisfy destination entry requirements such as health certificates and filling of health declaration forms if required.
