Ethiopian Airlines Ready to Distribute COVID-19 Vaccine

Ethiopian Cargo & Logistics Services has announced its readiness with all required capabilities for the distribution of potential COVID-19 vaccine across Africa and the rest of the world. As the world prepares to welcome the novel COVID-19 vaccine, Ethiopian Airlines will be at the forefront to distribute the vaccine across the globe with the youngest freighter fleet through its state-of-the-art cargo terminal with end to end Cool Chain Management. The airline aims at replicating the globally recognized success it recorded during the fast delivery of PPE, including delivery speed, professional handling, and maintaining the cool chain during the global distribution of the COVID-19 Vaccine. The Pharma Wing of Ethiopian Cargo & Logistics Services is best suited for handling of pharmaceuticals and all types of medical supplies.

The facility is equipped with different climate chambers ranging from -23°C to +25°C, dedicated cool dollies, dedicated pharma team, lease/handling of Envirotainer & DoKaSCH-TS active containers, real-time temperature monitoring system, and fully temperature-controlled operation. Ethiopian Airlines is the major cargo partner of WHO, WFP donor governments, and philanthropists in facilitating the flow of essential medical supplies owing to its massive cargo facility including its Pharma Wing, as well as large dedicated freighter fleet and well-trained manpower. WFP made Addis Ababa cargo terminal a distribution hub for all humanitarian aids considering the industry-standard resources and capabilities of Ethiopian Cargo & Logistics Services and the super-efficient service delivery demonstrated during the distribution of COVID-19 medical supplies. It'll be recalled that Ethiopian Cargo & Logistics Services was instrumental in facilitating the flow of medical supplies including PPEs across the globe in support of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the COVID-19 outbreak, Ethiopian Airlines has operated over 360 charter flights to transport PPE’s to over 100 countries across 5 continents. Ethiopian Airlines' state-of-the-art cargo terminal is the largest in Africa with an annual capacity of around one million tons and features compartmentalized temperature-controlled cold storage facilities.
