Ethiopian Airlines Gets New General Manager For Nigeria

Ethiopian Airlines has appointed Mr. Shimeles Arage as its new General Manager in Nigeria. He took over from Mrs. Firihiewot Mekonnen who has now moved to Frankfurt Germany as Manager.


Before his appointment, Mr. Shimeles was the Ethiopian Airlines Regional Manager for Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand. He once served in Equatorial Guinea and also as Director Revenue Management at the Head Office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.


A tested Manager, Shimeles comes to Nigeria with a wealth of experience. He holds a BA Degree in Economics and an MBA degree. He has attended Numerous Aviation Courses within and outside Ethiopia.


Ethiopian Airlines has been flying to Nigeria since Independence in 1960. It was the First International Airline to fly to Enugu Airport and the first airline to bring the Boeing 787 Dreamliner to Nigeria.


Ethiopian is also the first to bring the Airbus A350 to Nigeria. In December 2017, the airline operated the first all-female managed and crewed flight to Nigeria.


Ethiopian Airlines is the leading airline in Africa with the youngest and largest fleet. It flies to Abuja, Lagos, Kano, and Enugu in Nigeria with brand new Airbus A350, Boeing 787, and Boeing 777 aircraft.
