Enugu Air Set to Launch First International Route to Douala

Enugu Air will launch its first international service on September 23, 2026, connecting Enugu with Douala in Cameroon.

The new route between Akanu Ibiam International Airport (ENU) and Douala International Airport (DLA) marks an important step in the airline’s expansion from domestic operations into the regional market.

Enugu Air will operate the service twice weekly on Mondays and Wednesdays using an Embraer E170 aircraft.

Announcing the route, Enugu Air Chief Operating Officer, Ugonna Agubuokwu, said it would strengthen links between Nigeria and Cameroon while supporting business, family and commercial travel.

“This is more than the introduction of a new route; it is about creating stronger connections between Nigeria and Cameroon and making regional travel more accessible, convenient and seamless for our passengers,” Agubuokwu said.

Flights will depart Enugu at 12:45 pm and arrive in Douala at 1:45 pm. The return service will leave Douala at 2:30 pm and arrive in Enugu at 3:30 pm.

According to Agubuokwu, the schedule has been arranged to allow passengers travelling from Lagos and Abuja to connect through Enugu to Douala.

“The timing has been optimised so that passengers can conveniently connect from Lagos and Abuja. For business, for opportunity, and for the connections that matter, Africa is closer than you think,” he added.

The new service will provide a direct air link between South-Eastern Nigeria and Cameroon, offering traders, business travellers and other passengers an alternative to connecting through Lagos or travelling by road.

Beyond serving passengers travelling directly between Enugu and Douala, the airline plans to position Enugu as a transit point for regional journeys originating from other Nigerian cities.

The state-backed airline currently serves several domestic destinations, including Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Kano, Asaba, Benin City, Owerri and Warri. The Douala route represents its first step into regional operations.
