Capt. Najomo Attends Maiden Meeting ECATEOC Meeting in Lome

The Director-General Civil Aviation, Nigeria, Capt. Chris Ona Najomo, joined other eminent dignitaries and international delegates at the maiden meeting of the ECOWAS Air Transport Economic Oversight Committee (ECATEOC) held between 2nd and 3rd July, 2026 in Lomé, Republic of Togo.
The ECATEOC is the principal regional mechanism responsible for enforcing the abolition of air transport taxes and reducing aviation charges across West Africa as well as ensuring regulatory harmonization to make regional air travel more affordable, more competitive, and more efficient.
It comprised Directors General of Civil Aviation Authorities, Directors of Air Transport of Aviation Ministries, and representatives of the ECOWAS Commission, the ECOWAS Court of Justice, the ECOWAS Parliament, the Internation Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the African Civil Aviation Commission (AfCAC), the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the African Airlines Association (AFRAA), and other partners.
Also in attendance was Nigeria’s representatives on the Oversight Committee and Director, Air Transport Management Department at the Federal Ministry of Aviation & Aerospace Development, Mr. Ahmed Tijjani Mohammed.
