Capacity Building: NCAA Takes Upskilling Program to Kano

In continuation of its nationwide initiative to bridge the aviation skills gap and promote inclusive growth, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has commenced the Aviation Upskilling Development Programme (AUDP) and the Regional Aviation Career Awareness Campaign (RACAC) at the Kano Regional Office.

The two-day event, which commenced on June 30, 2025, aims to empower members of the Jaba community in Fagge Local Government Area with practical knowledge and career insights into the aviation industry.

Representing the Regional Manager, Mr. Sule Aminu, George Ajibose, Head of DATR, delivered a heartfelt welcome address, emphasizing the Authority's commitment to community development. He noted that the strength of any organization lies not only within its internal capacity but also in the growth and empowerment of the community around it.

Also in attendance was Kanma Ahungwa, Deputy General Manager of Human Capital Development and Training, who represented Dr. Anastasia Gbem, Director of Human Resources and Administration. In her remarks, she highlighted the strategic objectives of the programme, which include addressing regional talent shortages, promoting gender inclusion, and aligning Nigeria's aviation workforce with global standards.

Participants were drawn from the Jaba Gama Kwari community, with sessions focusing on technical skill development, entrepreneurship, and awareness of sustainable aviation practices. The programme also seeks to raise awareness of job opportunities within the sector, especially among women and underrepresented groups.

In his remarks, the Ward Head of Jaba Gama Kwari, Malam Abdulwahab Abdullahi, expressed his gratitude to the NCAA for bringing the initiative to the grassroots. He appreciated the Authority's leadership and prayed for continued progress in the aviation sector.

The Aviation Upskilling Development Programme (AUDP) and RACAC are part of NCAA's broader efforts to develop a sustainable and globally competitive aviation industry by equipping the next generation of professionals with essential tools and exposure.
