Asaba Airport Incident: FAAN Sets the Record Straight

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has set the record straight concerning a collision incident between an Air Peace aircraft and an antelope at Asaba Airport on Saturday, 10 May, 2025.

In a press statement released on Monday 12 May 2025, and signed by Mrs Obiageli Orah, Director Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria said it sympathised with the parties involved in the incident.

However, FAAN said we "will like to state that this incident did not occur at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, which is managed by FAAN. The incident happened at the privately managed Asaba Airport, which is owned by Delta State Government."

In the statement, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria FAAN also urged the public and media outlets to always verify information through official channels to prevent the spread of misinformation.

It'll be recalled that an Air Peace aircraft ran into an antelope at Asaba Airport on Saturday leading to the temporary grounding of the aircraft. Incidents like this come at a huge cost to airlines with ripple effects on their operations, including flight delays and even cancellations.
