Air Peace Set to Resume Flights to Dubai

Nigeria's Air Peace has announced that it will resume scheduled flight operations between Lagos and Dubai via Sharjah on December 1, 2021.

The resumption of flights between Lagos and Dubai is consequent upon the Federal Government of Nigeria’s lifting of the travel ban on flights from and to the United Arab Emirates on 26 November, 2021.

It'll be recalled that the Government of Nigeria and that of the United Arab Emirates had been in a diplomatic loggerhead over Emirates Airlines stringent COVID-19 measures against Nigerians, which included the requirement of Rapid Antigen Test (RDT).

In its revised Coronavirus protocol, the United Arab Emirates has removed the Rapid Antigen Test (RDT) for COVID-19 as a requirement for passengers travelling from Nigeria to the UAE.

In a statement dated November 26, 2021, the Aviation Business Management Team-Dubai Airports, said that RDT would no longer be required for all flights effective from 27 November, 2021 for passengers travelling to Dubai from several countries including Nigeria.

In turn, the Nigerian government responded by lifting the ban on UAE’s Emirates, allowing the airline to resume flights between the United Arab Emirates and Nigeria immediately.

However, passengers travelling to Dubai from Nigeria shall present a valid negative COVID-19 test certificate issued within 72 hours from the time of sample collection and from the approved health service that uses QR code system.

Air Peace, therefore, urged intending passengers to Dubai to comply with all established COVID-19 protocols governing international air travel and cooperate with airport staff in this regard.
