COVID-19 Lockdown: RwandAir Aborts Flight Resumption Plan

As several airlines across the world warm up to resume passenger flights following gradual relaxation of the global COVID-19 lockdowns, RwandAir has aborted its flight resumption plan.

In a statement on 19 May, the airline said the decision followed the extension of Rwanda’s border closure by the government of Rwanda in order to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

The airline did not say when it would resume flights. However, it said that further updates would be provided after 15 days.

According to the airline, affected customers holding tickets with RwandAir have the option of rebooking for free with the airline to fly at a later date.

RwandAir had originally suspended its commercial passenger flights on 20 March 2020, following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
