Ethiopian Airlines Clears the Air on Lagos Airport Incident

Ethiopian Airlines has cleared the air on an incident involving one its aircraft in Lagos yesterday and dismissed media reports as false and exaggerated. According to the airline, Ethiopian Airlines Flight ET 901 which departed Addis Ababa on 29 May en route Lagos encountered bad weather during landing and made a go-around the airport for better and smooth landing, according to the procedure. On a second attempt, it made a safe and normal landing. Pilots are encouraged to make a similar go-around in such cases, according to safety standard. However, some media had incorrectly reported this standard safety precautionary go-around as a near-crash scenario, thereby misleading the general public.
