South African Tourism has announced a dew date for the 2019 Africa’s Travel Indaba, bringing the event forward by four days.

The event will now take place from 2-4 May, 2019 at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in Durban.

The new date became necessary following President Cyril Ramaphosa's announcement, last week, in his state of the nation address that the national election will take place on 8 May 2019.

The travel and tourism fair had been scheduled to hold between 6th and 9th May and would have coincided with South Africa's national election.

In view of the new date, South Africa Tourism will work with trade partners to ensure smooth transition to the new date as many would’ve already planned for the previous date.

Indaba is African’s biggest travel exhibition show and one of the top three ‘must visit’ events of its kind on the global calendar. Last year over 7,000 delegates attended from 80 countries.

The international travel event showcases the widest variety of Southern Africa's best tourism products and attracts international buyers and media from across the world.
