Hyatt Hotels Expands in Africa with Nine New Properties

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced that nine additional Hyatt-branded hotels are expected to open in Africa by the end of 2020.

The announcement focuses on the first dual-branded Hyatt Place & Hyatt House hotels in Africa, the return of the Hyatt brand to Cairo, new Park Hyatt and Hyatt Regency hotels in Morocco, and Hyatt hotels in three new countries: Algeria, Ethiopia, and Senegal.

The nine new hotels are Hyatt Regency Algiers Airport, Algeria, Hyatt Regency Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Hyatt Place Nairobi/Westlands and Hyatt House Nairobi/Westlands, Kenya.

Others are Hyatt Centric Dakar, Senegal, Hyatt Regency Cairo West, Egypt, Park Hyatt Marrakech, Morocco and Hyatt Regency Arusha, Tanzania.

Africa, and particularly East Africa, remains a focus for Hyatt with an increasingly favorable business climate and heightened tourism spend, encouraged by relaxed visa rules, travel incentives, and a growing middle class.

According to the UNWTO, international tourist arrivals in sub-Saharan Africa have grown by 5.8% from 2005 to 2017, which is well above the global average of 4.2%.

Headquartered in Chicago, USA, Hyatt Hotels is a leading global hospitality company with a portfolio of 14 premier brands, over 750 properties in over 55 countries on 6 continents.
