Home2 Suites by Hilton Unveils First Modular Hotel

Home2 Suites brand by Hilton will open its first hotel using modular construction in early 2019 as it continues to be an industry-leader in the use of innovative building techniques.
Developed by Southern Hospitality Services and constructed by Akshar Development, the Home2 Suites San Francisco Airport North's pre-fabricated elements were put in place last week.
The Home2 Suites by Hilton San Francisco Airport North hotel represents the Bay Area’s first modular build hotel, and the first Home2 Suites by Hilton modular build.
Modular construction is a process in which a project is built off-site in a controlled environment to produce “modules” which are then assembled on-location. This building technique allows for faster construction, especially in high-barrier-to-entry markets where skilled labor is limited.
By using this process, construction time for the Home2 Suites San Francisco Airport North property was cut nearly in half and will be significantly shorter than the average for the Bay Area.
The hotel will incorporate several sustainability measures above the standards of the eco-friendly Home2 Suites including solar panels which will produce close to 50% of the hotel’s energy.
Home2 Suites by Hilton San Francisco Airport North will offer all-suite accommodations with fully-equipped kitchens and modular furniture, enabling guests to customize their stay.
