Captain Suffers Massive Heart Attack While Landing Plane


On Saturday evening, an IndiGo Airlines pilot suffered a massive heart attack mid-air, while on a flight from Imphal to the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata.

News18 reports that the 63-year-old pilot, Captain Silvio Diaz Acosta complained of acute chest pain to his co-pilot as he also began to sweat profusely when he was about to land his flight.

Despite the intense pain and profuse sweating, the sick Captain Acosta and his co-pilot managed to land the plane successfully at 4:45 pm. he Airbus A320 aircraft carrying 176 passengers.

On landing in Kolkata, Captain Acosta was rushed to the medical unit inside the airport. He was reported to be critical and was referred to the nearby Charnock Hospital for further treatment.

According to Doctors, his condition was serious as an Electrocardiography revealed that captain Acosta had suffered from Myocardial infarction (MI), commonly known as a heart attack.

Although Captain Acosta is now recovering, he has been kept under strict observation. Hopefully, he will be discharged in two-three days time.
