Boeing Becomes Gold Sponsor of African Aviation 2018

Boeing and the organizers of the Aviation Africa Summit 2018 have announced the gold sponsorship status of Boeing, the largest aircraft manufacturer.

Boeing partnerships in Africa date back more than 60 years with Boeing airplanes being the backbone of Africa's commercial fleet since over 50 years ago.

Today more than 40 airlines operate in excess of 400 airplanes throughout Africa. Nearly 70 percent of that in-service fleet across the continent are Boeing airplanes.

Additionally, African airlines have a total of 74 airplanes currently on order with Boeing, more than any other commercial airplane manufacturer.

Boeing forecasts that air traffic for African airlines will grow 5.9 % annually between 2017 and 2036, and that African carriers will need 1,220 new airplanes over the same period.

Boeing looks forward to building on its long record of partnership with the African aviation and in assisting the industry continue its long record of success.

The host airline for this year's summit - EgyptAir - has enjoyed a historic role in African Aviation. In 2016 it marked its 85th anniversary and its 50th anniversary of partnership with Boeing.

The Aviation Africa 2018 will be an opportunity for Boeing to interact with customers from Africa to build new relationships and reiterate its commitment to the success of African aviation.

The Aviation Africa Summit 2018 will take place in Cairo, Egypt from 17 to 18 April at InterContinental City Stars Hotel.
