Passengers on a Dana Air flight narrowly escaped death Tuesday night as an aircraft from ​Abuja skidded off​ the runway ​at the Port Harcourt International Airport upon landing.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the airline said the accident was as a result of the ​bad weather situation ​and torrential rain at the time of landing. 

No casualty was recorded and all passengers and crew disembarked safely. 

In the statement, the airline commended the pilots who were able to navigate the aircraft to a complete stop under the circumstance and brought all the passengers and crew to safety.

The airline reassured its guests that their safety and comfort will remain its top priority as it continues to adhere strictly to high standards and recommended practices as required by the NCAA.

The aircraft, an MD-83, which was operating Flight 9J0363 from ​Abuja, the Capital city of Nigeria​ to Port Harcourt International Airport, in the south south region of the country, had 44 passengers and crew on board.
