An Ethiopian Airlines' aircraft performing flight ET931 from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, Nigeria on Sunday could not land in Enugu due to bad weather.

The flight operated by a Boeing 787-8 was scheduled to land at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport by 3pm local time, but was forced to return to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

According to Daily Trust reports, the passengers on-board the flight protested the development, but their protest could not change the situation.

On return to Addis Ababa, all the passengers on-board the flight were checked into a hotel in Ethiopia, according to the report.

According to the report, 6 other flights including local and international flights which were scheduled to land at the Enugu Airport on Saturday, were also affected by the hazy, harmattan weather.

A number of local flights within Nigeria, including Lagos-Calabar, Lagos-Benin, Abuja-Enugu flights were cancelled on Sunday due to bad weather occasioned by the harmattan season.
