South African Airways Moves to New Airport in Dakar, Senegal


South African Airways has moved its Dakar, Senegal operations from Léopold Sédar Senghor International Airport to the new Blaise Diagne International Airport, Dakar with effect from 8 December.

According to the airline, its airport services at Léopold Sédar Senghor International Airport (DKR) terminated on Thursday, 7 December 2017.

Flight SA207 which departed Thursday night from Johannesburg for Dakar, was South African Airways first flight to land at the new Blaise Diagne International Airport Friday morning.

Tlali Tlali, SAA spokesperson says the airlines flight times to and from Blaise Diagne International Airport will continue as per the original time schedules and frequency.

The new airport which is bigger and more modern, has 44 check-in counters for both domestic and international traffic, and 20 passport control areas in the departures and arrivals terminal.

South African Airways customers can enjoy facilities such as bridge facilities on arrival and departure, lounges for Premium Class customers, and frequent flyers, duty free shops, and restaurants.

SAA’s check-in counters are located on the left side of the passenger terminal where the majority of Star Alliance carriers are located, with ticketing office facing the main entrance on the left.

The new Blaise Diagne International Airport which was inaugurated on Thursday, 7 December, is located in Diass, around 40 kilometres east of Dakar.
