As part of plan to expand its cargo networks, Ethiopian Airlines has placed an order for 4 Boeing 777 Freighters, signed with Boeing at the on-going Dubai Air Show.

The deal which is valued at more than $1.3 billion at list prices, includes a new order for two freighters and two orders announced as a commitment at Paris Air Show in June that finalized into a firm order.

Based on the Boeing 777-200LR passenger jet, the 777 Freighter is the world's largest and longest-range twin-engine cargo jet. It can fly 4,900 nautical miles (9,070 kilometers) with a full payload of 112 tons.

Ethiopian Cargo is the largest network cargo operator in Africa with six 777 and two 757 Freighters serving 39 cargo destinations in Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Europe.

Ethiopian Airlines flies one of the largest and youngest fleets in Africa, including latest generation Boeing 777, Boeing 787 and Airbus A350.

Ethiopian currently has an order book that includes the Boeing 737 MAX, Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A350.
