KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has launched a direct service between Amsterdam Schiphol and Juan Santamaría International Airport, San José, Costa Rica. The service commenced on 31 October 2017.

KLM will operate a twice weekly return service to the Costa Rican capital, throughout the winter season. A third weekly service will be added at the end of January through to the end of March.

The San Jose service will be operated using Boeing 787-9 with a total of 294 seats including 30 in World Business Class cabin, 45 in Economy Comfort class and 219 in Economy Class cabin.

The Boeing 787 offers passenger-pleasing features including low cabin noise, higher humidity in the cabin ensuring that passengers arrive at their destination feeling rested.

KLM's Boeing 787-9 features onbaord WiFi enabling passengers to stay connected to family, friends and businesses while they are on the go.

Home to dense culture and history, exquisite architecture and breathtaking nature, San José (which literally means Saint Joseph) is the capital and largest city of Costa Rica.

Considered to be both a traditional Central American city and cosmopolitan urban center, San Jose provides a wonderful array of activities and attractions.

KLM last operated a direct service to San Jose in 1998. The opening of the new direct service to San Jose, is in response to growing passenger demand.
